Refreshingly different broking
After 10 years service Andy Thorn is going into a very different field, moving with his family to Zimbabwe to expand the orphan care and vulnerable children programme of the Nehemiah Project, a local organisation that helps children infected with or affected by the HIV virus.
LFC Managing Director, Jerry Clayton, says: "We are obviously sorry to see Andy go as he has been an integral part of our business since joining us in 1999, however, we are completely supportive of what he is seeking to achieve and have decided to adopt this charity to help with those aims."
Andy first started visiting the project in 2004 and has become more and more involved since that time, leading teams from the UK to run kids clubs for the children several times over the past five years. Now the move is becoming more permanent, Andy says: "I became very much aware of how much we could do if we were in Zimbabwe full time for a number of years. I am sad to be leaving LFC and it was a very big decision. If I could have done both I would have, but in the end a choice had to be made."
Andys' role will be filled by Mike Hall, who previously operated The Pinhey Partnership in Westcliff-on-Sea, in Essex, prior to its acquisition by LFC in 2007.
